The Michigan Residential Code (MRC) will take effect on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. The Michigan Residential Code book will be available on January 19.
As we have for the past two code cycles, the MAHB has partnered with the Bureau of Construction Codes to use the state’s purchasing power to provide a discounted price for all of the 2009 Michigan codes. The soft cover edition of the 2009 Michigan Residential code is priced at $81.50. Click here to purchase. Note: You must enter code provided on link and discount will not show until checkout.
However, there is a problem regarding the energy conservation portion of the MRC. The MRC is a “stand-alone” document, intended to contain everything needed, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical and energy requirements, to build one-and two-family homes and townhouses not more than three stories in height. The 2009 MRC does not contain the Chapter 11 energy conservation requirements.
