Michigan has changed the licensure laws to including a continuing competency requirement to renew your license.  A complete list of classes being offered by local associations across the state are listed below under read more.  Other educational options listed may meet the requirment for continuing competency.  Check with the provider listed to confirm.

OSHA Fall Protection Compliance PDF Print E-mail

At the request of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has withdrawn the Interim Fall Protection Compliance Guidelines for Residential Construction. They are being replaced with the fall protection regulations in OSHA standard 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M, which is less complex and allows residential construction employers some flexibility in providing fall protection systems.  MIOSHA is moving to implement the new regulations.  Click here for a listing of classes.

 
RRP Classes Will Count For Both Safety & Legal PDF Print E-mail

Last week the MAHB learned a proprietary school offering both the EPA Lead RRP class and continuing competency (CC) activities, allegedly told RRP class attendees that the lead class would not count toward the safety portion of the state’s continuing competency requirements.

University of Housing Approved Instructors in Michigan PDF Print E-mail

Instructors for the NAHB University of Housing courses must all be approved by the National Association of Home Builders.  A committee made up of members of the stakeholder boards reviews all applications and approves instructors before they are allowed to instruct an NAHB University of Housing course.
